I have collaborated with Nick Stringer for over 15 years - Nick is one of those rare creative people that inspires and motivates others, myself included, to help deliver award-winning, and more importantly, effective creative campaigns. I found Nick to be an enthusiastic and motivating leader that could recognise and bring out the creativity in others across a wide range of mediums and formats.

Nick and I met at Channel 4 where as former head of factual & sport marketing, I as creative director, we worked in a high volume, fast turnaround work environment. We were responsible for the successful delivery of over 500 campaigns a year featuring on screen video and film, and many top tier campaigns required press, OOH and events. Nick in his role managed a team of creatives, directors, designers, producers and planners with over 50 team members at any given time.  Part of the channel’s marketing success came from Nick pressure testing every single brief that was developed with Channel 4's commissioning team coupled with his appreciation of craft in execution.

In 2014 I was reunited with Nick who was assembling a team to deliver The Unquiet Film Series while CCO at News UK. The films included live action, animation, CGI and photographic based executions requiring a broad range of disciplines and styles of filmmaking. Nick navigated the universe of stakeholders (editors, journalists, creatives, directors and producers) with aplomb.

Nick is really a director of creativity.  I write this because pure creativity often doesn't look at the business need in any great depth, rather the shiny outcome and potential for awards.  Often a brief comes and the single-minded creatives focus entirely on the end result and no more. Nick starts with an intimate understanding of the needs of the business out of which he formulates great briefs & then finds the individuals and collectives that he can collaborate with to deliver the work.  Working again with Nick reminded me of his strong creative judgment and good taste.  He is totally at home within advertising agencies, publishing, broadcast and media organisations alike.  He’s good in a room and quickly interprets and translate feedback to the team.

Part strategist, part creative, part marketer, part suit and part creative director and an absolute pleasure to work with day in day out. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Until then,

my very best wishes
